Created in 2022 by Adam Bell. Who runs a team of decorators with over 50 years experience between them. DAPPS Clothing is an apparel brand and online retailer, based in Cambridge. Providing comfortable workwear along with an online platform for all
tradesmen and women to connect.

“After years of discussions between us and other trades, both on site and on social media, we realised there was a problem. Work clothing for tradesmen and women just isn’t comfortable. So we decided it was time to do something about it. Two years of
research, designing and sampling followed, and Dapps Clothing was born.”

THE DAPPS WAY OF LIFE

Builders, plumbers, painters, carpenters, electricians, warehouse staff, cleaners…it’s time for change. All those office folk, they’ve traded in their suits for chinos and polos, now it’s our turn.

Here at the Dapps headquarters, we’re all tradesmen ourselves. We’ve complained to each other for years about how much we dislike our overalls. We recognise that comfort in the building trade has long been overlooked.

Let’s face it, the clothes you wear to work…. THEY’RE JUST NOT COMFORTABLE! Rigid, heavy, tight, and outdated. Baggy at the ankles, tight around the crotch, they chafe, and there is always overkill on the pockets, loops and buckles.

Would you wear them going for a run?

Would you wear them in the gym?

Would you wear them playing football?

Of course not! So, why do you wear them for work? It’s still a physical activity and you’ve been dressing in the wrong way for years.

THE STORY BEHIND DAPPS CLOTHING

It all began one day while I and my team of decorators were working on a bustling building site, set away in the Cambridgshire countryside.  I’ve always said that its important, as a decorator, to wear whites and look professional when working in residential or commercial areas. But, recognizing that we were away from the public eye, I decided to grant my staff the freedom to wear whatever they found most comfortable, as we had all complained for years about how uncomfortable all brands of workwear trousers were. The following day, we all showed up in jogging bottoms. They expressed relief at being able to work in comfort, enjoying the flexibility, warmth, and lightweight nature of the trousers. However, it soon became evident that their newfound comfort came at a cost – they lacked essential features such as knee protection, tool pockets, and secure storage for valuables like phones, wallets, and keys. This posed a significant challenge as they struggled to keep their essential items close at hand and protect themselves while on the job.

It was this challenge that sparked the idea for DAPPS Clothing – to combine the comfort of jogging bottoms with the practicality of traditional workwear, such as overalls. I envisioned a garment that would seamlessly integrate the comfort and flexibility of jogging bottoms with the functionality of overalls, incorporating features such as tool pockets, knee pad pockets, and zip pockets for secure storage of valuables.

After 3 years of hard work, whilst still running my decorating business (which I still do now!) tons of research, numerous purchases of every pair of overalls, jogging bottoms, and workwear trousers on the market, many late nights hacking away at the clothing with scissors and glue…. I had finally designed my first pair of DAPPS Work Joggers. I had created workwear that was highly original and innovative, yet simple, comfortable and stylish. Something that has never been said about Workwear!

And thus, DAPPS Clothing was born – a brand dedicated to providing workers across various industries, with workwear that not only prioritizes comfort and style but also enhances functionality and safety. Our mission is to empower workers to perform at their best by offering them apparel that meets the unique demands of their jobs while ensuring they look and feel their best, and are most importantly, comfortable! I am a great believer that we are more productive when we feel comfortable in what we are wearing.

I am excited about the potential of DAPPS Clothing, and hope to revolutionize the workwear market. We will be bringing innovative and practical workwear solutions to all tradespeople and consumers alike, setting a new standard for comfort, functionality, and style in the industry.
